This month has definitely flown by. With our grandson here with us, and our son, Billy, having joined us to serve, life has entered a new season! A wonderful one but also a very busy one. With a team here from Alabama through Fishers of Men this week, and another one to arrive a week after they depart, the camp will continue to be buzzing with activity. I will continue to homeschool Nicholas, as well as tutor after school in reading, and oversee the camp kitchen while Joe and Billy will attempt to keep up with cutting ten acres and grooming the grounds, as well as, pull maintenance around here! Oh, and then there is the on going, never ending painting on the facility. I don't foresee anyone around here being bored in the near future! We are praying for an increase in Belizean bookings this year now that we can sleep larger groups. We know the Lord will send us the groups according to His Will! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! The power of prayer keeps us going!

Humbled by His Faithfulness!

Merry Christmas prayer partners! We trust this blessed Christmas day has been a special celebration of the birth of our precious savior, Jesus! What a glorious day! What a wonderful time we all have exchanging gifts with family & friends in honor of the greatest gift of all. Thank you Lord for special celebrations of your love.
I am so very tired after having "shopped til I dropped this week", attending church services, and cooking for many hours to have that special Christmas dinner! But it is so worth it all!
It just gets me so excited to share the wonderful financial testimonies with you all as God continues to provide for us and the ministry! However, this month I have a confession to make regarding finances. I had definitely been discouraged and just plain feeling sorry for myself as Christmas grew closer because for the first time in 10 years, as of Dec 23, we had not had any donations come in for us personally nor for the ministry this Christmas season. When we left Belize to fly home for Texas, we did not even have funds to pay the utilities or our worker for the second half of the month. We are blessed that Joe is able to work when we return to Texas for his former boss which pays for our return tickets to Belize. But this time the money had to go to pay the ministry bills in Belize for December. That meant zero money to buy gifts for Christmas until Tuesday before Christmas. Last minute shopping is very stressful but I was trying to just be thankful that we were at least going to be able to buy for the kids & grand kids. But again, I must admit that I was feeling pretty down And just couldn't understand the "why" of our finances. God's ways are so NOT our ways and He just wants us to continue to Trust and Believe Him to work out every single detail! Well, on Christmas Eve, I went to the mailbox, and there was an envelope for us that contained a $3,000 donation!! Wow! I was stunned, amazed, delighted, and so excited that God had , again, used incredible timing to encourage us and let us know that He has it all under control! Forgive me , Lord, for my lack of faith! The payment on the property will now be made on time and we will be able to pay the utilities for January! So the Christmas presents were bought, the bills will be paid, and Joe's earnings will be able to purchase our return tickets! God's timing is always impeccable!! All for the Glory and Honor of the name of Jesus!

Believing God!

Okay. Again, I must post the incredible Faithfulness of our MIGHTY GOD! Until this past week, we had no clue how the camp would make it this month financially! The Lord sent us a Team this past week to get us through the first two weeks of November for expenses here in Belize, but still zero money had come in to make the ministry property payment due December 1st. Amazingly, on Saturday 3 different checks arrived totaling $1675.00 of the $1750.00 payment at our Texas address & $150 donation here in Belize! All for the sake of the Glory & Honor of HIS Name....JESUS! HE continues to intervene through the power of prayer! And we continue to stand in AWE of our God's incredible timing to provide both for the ministry & us personally every month! Makes me shout! Life is just too crazy and seems to be a whirlwind for us! But as I sit and contemplate the amazing Power of Prayer, I must record God's incredible Faithfulness! We generally return to Texas in September as it is the slowest month of the year for camp ministry. Joe is blessed to be able to work while we are stateside to help support us so we can serve in Belize. Well, this September (and October as well) have been no different. And so as per usual I was petitioning the throne and asking for a withdrawal from Heaven's bank account for the huge overhead costs of BTM to be covered. But in my flesh stressing because it is completely impossible for Joe to make enough to carry the camp & support us. The Lord is reconfirming in my heart that when it is IMPOSSIBLE with man, He takes Great delight in showing Himself Strong! A donation from a church came in for $500, then $300 from an individual, then $150 from a dear friend & received an email yesterday that a $750 deposit for a team is on the way! That total comes to $1700 & the payment on the property is $1750! Whew! That makes me shout!! Glory to His Name! And we have a confirmed booking for Nov & 2 more Inquiries! Thank you Jesus for the reminder that you REALLY do have it All covered! God truly is who He says He is and God can do what He says He can do! I am choosing to Believe God!

Larger Sleeping Capacity!

Hallelujah! We have a full calendar of groups through the middle of August! We continue to simply Glorify Jesus for all He has done here on this property in just two years!
Rocky Bayou Christian School was here for June 1-11th with a team of 18 folks. They worked in the Valley of Peace with Pastor Dan & Vickie at Valley Baptist Church. This week we have two teams here. A team of 12 from Green Acres Baptist Church, Bastrop, LA holding revival & children's services and then a team of 11 here with No Boundaries Ministry serving at Valley Baptist picking up where the last team left off ! Then on June 27 we have a Belizean church camp along with some US folks who are helping to sponsor the camp. The same day the camp ends, we have another team arriving from Cypress Bible Church in the Houston area. They are going to work right here on our campus and build us 12 more sets of bunk beds! Praise Jesus! That will put us 24 people closer to the 100 mark!! We will be able to house close to 70 with cots & Well, let me back up first and say that I just finished reading George Mueller's biography again. I am always so astounded at his amazing testimonies of how God always met his needs financially only through the power of prayer. One of the things he always did was to write down his specific prayer requests in a column and then go back and record when the Lord answered the prayer. He shared that he had 5,000 prayer requests answered in the same day over the course of his life! Although, I have read it before, it just really stuck with me this time so I decided to do the same. I made my list and prayed over them........and (this is gonna knock your socks off!) just ONE HOUR LATER, I received an email from a church stating that they had some extra funds come in for their mission trip and decided they wanted to bless Blue Thumb with it!! With my mouth dropped open, I was speechless!! (I know that is hard to believe...me, Piper, speechless?) I was just ecstatic all day Praising Jesus! Then I began to realize that at the very moment I was on my knees praying, the folks in the church office were having the discussion about sending the money!! WOW! That just blows me away! What a God we serve!
But then, this morning I got up and had to ask for forgiveness because I was feeling a bit down about the fact that we have had folks contact us that they are sending money but none of it has arrived nor have they said how much or when it will arrive. So back on my knees I went again and confessed that I should just be believing God for the funds to be exactly what we need just when we need it! (Because that is how God always works!) So I read over my list again, prayed Psalm 51 again, and added to the list Christmas money for the trip to Florida.
The stateside van is literally on its last leg and needs to be repaired or else we need funds for a rental car for the trip. My parents are 80 & 82 and my mom has not had the whole family together in several years for Christmas so we are determined to make that happen this year.
Well, I am here to report that, once again, just a few hours later I received an email from a different church that they had taken up a special offering for their missionaries this Christmas and that we would be receiving a check for $500! Talk about feeling humbled before the Lord......another donation.......and the amount and arrival time was also included!!
I tell you folks it just gets better and better and better, more and more incredible, absolutely mind boggling serving Jesus and trusting Him to meet our every need through the POWER OF PRAYER! Two days in a row, prayers were answered on the very same day for the specific thing I wrote down & prayed for!!
Wow! Even in the midst of my humanness, He reached down in his long suffering and mercy, to me, Piper, and chose to not only forgive me, but comfort me and remove my anxiety! He never gives us what we deserve.... Simply Amazing Grace! It is unfathomable to man in our finite minds just HOW BIG GOD IS!!

Overflowing Praise!

Our God is the most, Incredible, Amazing, Astounding, Jehovah Jireh!! Joe & I are completely in AWE and humbled at his FAITHFULNESS once again! I share these testimonies on the blog in order to show the power of prayer to an "unbelieving world" that God truly can provide our needs soley through Him moving hearts to give as a result of our prayers!
On Saturday I sat down and made our list of what had to be paid for in preparation to fly out for the holidays and as per usual.......we were short! We needed $200 more just to pay the bills currently due and pay workers in advance for while we are gone. Usually we pay the utilities in advance for the month we will be stateside but did not have that money so just decided we would have to wire the money from the states to our Belize bank when it came due. However, as I was making the list, a deposit was being processed at that very time back in Texas!! And the amount? Yep! It was for $250!! And it just gets better from here! Yesterday we went to town to run errands and pay bills. While we were there, we went to the post office hoping the Lord had sent us an unexpected blessing! But nothing there.......as we were finishing up, we got a phone call from another man in ministry that brings down teams (whom we had not even talked to in probably 3 or 4 years) and he said he wanted to meet us here at the camp because he had a gift for us! Well, he is involved in sports camps, so we assumed he was bringing us sporting equipment for summer camps........OH YE OF LITTLE FAITH! His van broke down on the way here and did not make it here until this morning. He viewed the facility and then shared with us that he was flying out on Wednesday and that he had some funds left to donate to area ministries. He had two checks.....one he gave to folks he has been involved with for years but then asked the Lord to reveal to him who to write the other check out to. He said sometimes the Lord just impresses very clearly upon your heart to do something and he KNEW he was to take the donation to Blue Thumb Missions!!!! Hallelujah! And guess what? It is just enough to take care of the rest of what we need to pay......hmmm....imagine that!
Now, I want you to know that he had absolutely no idea of our current financial status, all he knew was the Lord said GIVE!! And he obeyed his Lord! With tears in our eyes, we prayed together and gave Praise to Jesus for bringing us together today!! We are so humbled in the presence of our Lord as we give testimony of his faithful provision for both us and the ministry!
Proverbs 28:27 "Whoever gives to the poor will not want."
God always fulfills his promises!

Absolutely Beautiful today in Belize! Sunshine & 80 degrees! Perfect in my opinion! Here is an update for this week on events taking place. On Sunday afternoon we drove to the Valley of Peace Indian village to asses the damage done in that area. It actually weathered the storm fairly decent. Lots of trees down, but not major damage to structures there. Joe worked on three more post Richard projects this week in the Indian village of Mayo-Mopan along side other area ministries rebuilding for folks that had thatch roof huts destroyed in the storm. That village looks basically devastated due to the nature of the thatch structures they live in. Then today he is helping on a project replacing a tarp with a zinc roof on a structure at the Baptist Training Center. So it has been a very busy construction week for Joe. I have been busy planning & researching on the web for some free phonics materials to aid me in tutoring my two new students in reading until I can get some better materials when we are stateside. I now have six students. My first student is beginning to "catch on" and is doing better & better. I am greatly encouraged and excited to see her progress. It is richly rewarding to be a part of teaching a person to read! And I absolutely Love, Love, Love it! I will be at the children's home tutoring three students this afternoon and then we will wrap up the day by having dinner & fellowship with our dear friends Buddy & Kathryn of Fishers of Men! We are blessed, and honored to continue to serve our precious Lord in Belize!

Ok folks, as I begin this blog tonight I am still overwhelmed and feeling so unworthy of all God bestows upon us as we continue to serve Him in Belize! As I shared in the last post we have a great burden to help the family of 5 children back in the bush and are so thankful for the answered prayers to them getting that new roof! And I did take them food the first of the week, BUT, ya know, sometimes God just won't let you alone about burdens he puts upon your heart for others. Joe & I both were feeling more & more compelled to do something more, but did not even have the funds to pay the note on the property or the utilities for this month. Well, then it rained & rained this week and a cold front rolled into Belize & I just knew those kids had to be uncomfortable....but also knew we would get stuck if we tried to drive back there in all the mud, but was still feeling the strong pull on my heart for the family. Today God sent sunshine!! And though we did not have cash to buy stuff, we certainly had like new items here that we could take them. So, we loaded up the truck with a set of bunkbeds & mattresses we bought this summer for the camp, sheets, pillows, towels, blankets, shoes, & the backpacks of school supplies from Body & Soul and headed back in the bush! THOSE SMILES ON THEIR FACES WERE WORTH MORE THAN ANY AMOUNT OF THANK YOUS!! Praise you Jesus!!
But here is the REST of the STORY! We left there and went to town to run some errands....Joe decided to check the PO Box.......and guess what?? Our most Incredible Lord thy God had already sent the funds to meet our needs and the utilites will get paid on time!!
And that's not all! Our bus had a palm tree fall on it during the hurricane and it shattered the windshield and tore off the side mirror & dented the side fender. Again, we did not have the funds to fix the bus so just assumed it would have to wait as well....but God had it all under control and money has been donated designated for fixing the bus as well! Praise you Father! And without a doubt the note on the property for November will get paid as well!! Hallelujah!
As we opened the envelope today at the post office and I read it outloud to Joe, he immediately said with tears in his eyes "You can NEVER EVER OUTGIVE GOD!!!" How about you folks? Have you ever put God to the test even in the midst of your own impossible circumstances? I challenge you to do just that...He promises to come through!

"....Test me in this, "says the Lord Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. Malachi 3:10

"Give, and it will be given to you.
About two months ago Joe & I became aware of the living conditions of a family of five children that have been coming to the camp to get water, coconuts, mangos, etc. and to play on the grounds. They live back in the bush to the side of the camp which has no running water or electricity. The mother showed up one day and said that they needed food. Well, we do get many requests for help so we do have to limit it to the folks who truly do need the assistance. Joe went to the store and bought rice & beans and drove to the back to deliver it but the kids came out of the bush & met Joe to get the food. So on that particular trip we did not see their living conditions. We began to inquire some and found out the family was definitely in need of help. So this time Joe took the food to the house but I was not with him. He was very humbled to say the least at the sight of how those five children had to live. So, the next week I went to get the groceries and went with him to deliver them........I cannot begin to tell you how moved I was emotionally. once again. at the conditions in which some folks are forced to live. I immediately began to beseech the Lord on this family's behalf that somehow we could help them in a much bigger way than just groceries. I knew that Blue Thumb was not in a position to do that so I began to pray for the Lord to "Make a Way where there seemed to be No Way!"
The hurricane then came our way and completely took what roof they had off of their "shack" and so the kids showed up here wanting us to come see if we could help in some way. Well, Buddy Hardy with Fishers of Men just "happened" to be here and went with us to check out the situation.....his heart was moved as well as he witnessed the need to aid this family. So, Fishers of Men contacted Eric Maas with Seek, Serve, Save who also ended up wanting to assist in replacing their roof! Praise God they would provide the funds & Joe could certainly oversee the construction! My prayers were answered!
In the mean time, I went to the school to check on the children's needs there and found they did not have a school sponsorship. So I contacted a couple of area sponsorship programs to get the ball rolling so I could at least find them one for next year.
Well, lo and behold, I got a text last night from Samantha with Body & Soul Ministries that they have found sponsors for ALL FOUR children! What a Magnificent God we serve who hears the cries of the needy! Thank You Jesus for faithfully being true to your Word!
But the whole point to this story is that because of Hurricane Richard taking off their roof, events begin to fall in place and God has brought so much good and many blessings out of that storm! So we CAN truly Praise God even in the midst of STORMS!

Jehovah Jireh!!

October has been another astounding month in our profoundly gratifying journey of faith! Upon arrival back to Belize on 9/22, we had enough funds in the bank to pay the mortgage, utilities, & worker for the month. Not enough to maintain the camp, just enough to cover bare necessities!). AND, with no - that is zero bookings on the calendar through the end of the year. So, as per usual, we were praying for our Jehovah Jireh to provide the funds needed to see us through.

Well, things did not start out on a very positive note.....our Nissan truck was not running properly....had to repair it & get a new battery (to date it is still not running properly). But then, IF the money were to remain in the bank then it would not require faith on our part to trust Jehovah Jireh to intervene, would it? "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Heb 11:1

Then the lawn mower needed a part replaced (required to keep the 10 acres cut!). You know the enemy will try to take such events and use them to discourage us from being stayed upon the faithfulness of our Lord, Jesus! But, continuing in the Word of God and prayer lifts us up and strengthens us to "press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus!" Phil 3:14
Are you ready for this? The following is the outcome of those prayers!

Oct 2 - Tri-Cities Christian School put in a playground for us and an individual donated $325!!
Oct 5 - Belizean Mennonite Church booked and paid $100 Deposit for Youth Retreat Oct16
Oct 14 - A deposit of $1,000 went into our account! Praise God!
Oct 15 - A $1,000 love offering check arrived in the mail from a US church! Hallelujah!
Oct 17 - Mennonite Youth Retreat $145
Oct 18 - A deposit of $1,000 went into our account AGAIN - it turned out to be an individual donating!
Oct 19 - A deposit of $587 - another individual donation! Glory to God!

I get so excited I scarce can take it all in when I write these updates!! Now, the even more incredible part of all of this is that the above totals $4,157 and guess what it takes to meet our bare minimal needs to run the camp for a month? Yep! You got it right about $4,000!!! In addition to the cash donations, Tri-Cities spent $500 on gravel and wood to finish the playground as well as shipping the set down which was probably close to another $1000! And, Yalbac Lumber donated lumber for the project as well. Also, Fishers of Men donated a part for the Bobcat as it broke down while working on a project this month. We humbly bow before our Lord and say, WOW! What a MARVELOUS Saviour we serve!!

"Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. Looking out over the property and facility here, we continue to "pinch ourselves" as we again stand in amazement at what our precious Lord has provided for this ministry! But we also humbly recognize, "to whom much is given, much is also required". Joe & I are not capable of fulfilling the task in and as of ourselves, but only as we allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work in and through us can we accomplish His great calling upon our lives. That a Mighty God has reached down & "chosen" us.........a carpenter and a homeschool mom.....and given us the honor of serving Him in such a great capacity as we reach out & touch the lives of folks in Belize..... remains a mystery to us! But as I am reminded through a study on the book of Daniel - God's sovereignty rules! He does whatever he wills according to his good pleasure and he does it with whomever, whenever, & wherever he pleases! And the fact he chooses to use me...a mere human saved by His grace to accomplish his purposeful goals... simply boggles my finite human mind! Wow! If that does not make a child of God get excited and squirm in your seat then you need to examine yourself and seek the face of God to be revived! May we seek to fulfill his purposes for his Glory in our lives each and every day!

A Change of Scenery!

What a blessing to be able to come and visit in Texas with the grand babies &
We have had 12 mission teams here in 9 weeks as well as a missionary couple staying here in their motorhome as they began their new ministry in Belize, The Barnabus Project!
It has been a whirlwind, but yet still a very incredible time of seeing the Lord intervene, answer prayer, & bring more souls into the kingdom!! We have had 65 decisions made for salvation in just the past two weeks! Praise His Holy Name!!! That is WHY we are motivated to continue on inspite of the crazy, demanding schedule of camp ministry. Church camp is a very powerful ministry to get children & youth removed from the distractions of life & the pull of this world away from God and gets them to focus back on seeking the Lord thy God with all their hearts! What a privilege and honor to serve our precious Lord in this capacity and being just a very small part of seeing young folks come to Jesus as well as others getting back on track & drawing closer to their Lord!!
We have finished the covered dining area, have 12 picnic tables completed, had 5 sets of bunkbeds with mattresses donated, 15 cots donated, were able to purchase an additional 20 mattresses to use on the cots or wherever needed. We have purchased 2 refrigerators, 2 freezers, 2 stoves, a microwave, & completely equipped a camp kitchen! We have put in 3 new showers & have the materials to install 2 more showers & 2 toilets!! We have had a used tractor w/finish mower & a used Bobcat donated to continue the work on developing the property in the back and also many tools for construction projects! On top of all of that, we have also painted the entire campus outside & and have a good start on the inside! ALL this in just the past few months!
We are now able to sleep 60 campers & the dining area will now acommodate 72 adults or 96 kids for day events! As soon as we finish the rest of the showers in the bath house, we are ready to book church groups of that size! We are soooooo excited and full of joy at what the Lord has accomplished in just one year of ministry!! In fact, we are pinching ourselves to make sure we are not in the middle of an amazing dream!!
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD WE SERVE! We are overwhelmed with HIS faithfulness!
Please continue to pray for us as we wind down the busy schedule the end of August and begin to focus on the Lord's Will for Blue Thumb Missions camp ministry for the fall & So you can follow us on Facebook.
Next, I would like to update you on our current status at BTM. It is April of 2010 and we are still standing in complete AWE of how God has moved the heart of man to give to BTM either through donations or through booking the camp to bring down a team!! We continue to pay the bills monthly to keep the ministry going full speed ahead! It has not been easy, nor has there been a huge abundance of finances, but none the less, there has been "just enough" to keep on keeping on!!
We are also amazed at the calendar for our first full year in operation. We have a very full calendar beginning May 30 and continuing all the way through to August 21!! I believe it is 15 groups total during the summer. All Glory & Honor &
